Daniel's surgeries on Monday went well. The colostomy reversal went smoothly and all his pipes have been cleaned out and put back together again. The other procedures took longer than expected, but, turned out better than hoped.
However, he still feels miserable. He went without eating or drinking (even water) from Sunday night until Wednesday. The medical staff finally gave him some juice and chicken broth. He was unable to keep it down. He is trying to have some again today. Needless to say he is very tired and weak and feeling yucky! He still hurts as well and the tv in his room doesn't have the channel with the NHL playoffs. On the bright side, he did get a "Super Patient" sticker from the nurses. We hope he will be discharged soon.

Glad to hear that Daniel has these surgeries behind him, sorry to hear of all the suffering he is going through. We are thinking of you Daniel and upholding you in prayer.

ReplyDeleteLook, there in that hospital bed.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bird.
It's a plane...
No it's Super Patient.
Yes, it's Super Patient! Strange visitor from another land who came to the US with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal Americans. Super Patient, who can change the course of his intestine, bend bedpans with his bare hands, and who, disguised as Daniel Riley, mild-mannered Lance Cpl in the Marines, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and an improved hospital menu.
Did he get a cape? A cape would definitely cheer me up.
ReplyDeleteDaniel - I don't blame you for feeling miserable. Your poor body has been through a lot - and you have every right to feel miserable at times. You are one brave soldier and I admire the way you seem to be handling everything with such grace.
